The first one was shot from the south looking north, the second from the north looking south.
These were taken as we overflew Key West on a medevac to and from the Dry Tortugas.

To the north:

To the south.

In particular, note how different the water looks, due to the changed refraction, all from shooting into sun as opposed to away from it.

April showers continues....

These 2 pics are from a recent medevac up to Miami.

Miami from the air after we left the helipad at Ryder Trauma Center:

Florida Bay as we headed south back to the hanger at Marathon:
April's Shower...

As per Jennifer's suggestion at S/V Mari Hal-O-Jen, I'm posting pics.
Not sure if I will have a "theme." Good thing all of my Christmas shopping was done!
But the good news, beside Christmas of course, was that when we flew from Allakaket to Anchorage (on the first medevac flight), we took a route that brought us around the west side of Denali. Up close. Real close. Wonderfully close.
I was looking for Santa, but was distracted by the following views...

More Northern Lights

I took these using a different setting on the camera. Well if you were to split Alaska in half, that would make Texas the THIRD largest state.

Our regular service area covers from the Alaska/ Canada border on the east, to the western reaches of the Yukon, almost to the Bering sea. We fly north to the north slope, and south to Denali.

To put that in another perspective, our service area is larger than the state of Texas.

In addition to that area, we fly to Anchorage and Seattle frequently, and have flown a patient as far south as Tucson, Arizona.

In the summer we operate in weather that will get up into the 90's here in Fairbanks.

In the winter, I have been on calls to villages where the temp was -57F. (It was -40F here in Fairbanks that night.)

At those temps, we only have about 10 minutes max to load the patient onto the aircraft with the engines off, or the jet fuel turns to jelly.

The View from my front door

Some shots from my front door,
the moose taken a week or so ago as she and her calf snacked in our yard,

and the northern lights taken last night.

The northern lights seem blurry, but what happened is that it is a time lapse photo, and the wind was blowing, giving the trees that blurry look.
